Seoul’s new transportation innovation, the Han River Bus, officially begins operations on September 18, 2025. More than just a mode of transit, this water bus combines leisure, eco-friendly travel, and tourism. Whether for commuting or a relaxing escape, the Han River Bus offers a unique way to experience the city. In this guide, we’ll cover its routes, fares, and themed itineraries by pier.
What is the Han River Bus?
The Han River Bus is a newly introduced water-based public transport service by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. It connects seven major piers stretching from Magok to Jamsil. With hybrid and electric-powered vessels, it serves as an eco-friendly means of transport. Unlike traditional sightseeing cruises, it functions as both a practical commuter option and a tourism experience.
Han River Bus Routes & Timetable
The Han River Bus operates two types of routes: express and regular.
The express service caters to commuters, while the regular route is designed for sightseeing and flexible travel.

How Much Does It Cost?
Fares are affordable and integrated into Seoul’s transit system. You can pay with a transportation card, enjoy transfer discounts, and even ride unlimited with the Climate Companion Card.

For fitness lovers, the Magok–Yeouido stretch is ideal. Yeouido pier has a Runner’s Station with lockers and changing rooms. Cyclists can use bike racks onboard (space for 22 bicycles), or rent a public bike nearby. This makes it easy to combine running, cycling, and river transport.

The Han River Bus fleet includes 12 vessels, each with a capacity of 199 seats.
8 vessels are hybrids, and 4 are fully electric.

Do You Need Reservations?
